Dumonde Tech Chain Lube Review

| Reviews | October 9, 2015

dumonde tech chain lube

Will there ever be one lube to rule them all? (Spoiler Alert: yes) When it comes to chain lube, I’ve pretty much seen it all – White Lightening (the good ‘ol days), wax lubes, dry lubes, wet lubes, custom mixtures (my father swears by 1/3 Pedros + 2/3 Pro Link), motor oil, white lithium grease, WD-40, and even

Trek Domane Project One Frame

In May of this year we received a 2013 Trek Domane 6.2 Project One bike for long-term testing. The Domane (pronounced dough-mah-neeeee) is Trek’s ‘endurance’ road bike – built for the cobbles with geometry and frame details designed to absorb the bumps. The two most notable features

Hope Pro 2 Evo Review

| Reviews | August 15, 2013

hope pro 2 evo rear hub

This review is for a set of Hope Pro 2 Evo 6 bolt MTB hubs that I have laced to NoTubes Crest 29er hoops.

When looking for a solid bikepacking/Tour Divide wheelset I was torn between a few options. On one hand I thought about just keeping it basic and going with a stock Crest 29er wheelset and the NoTubes 3.30 hubs. On the other hand I thought about going with the gold standard DT 240’s. That’s when I came across

Tour Divide Update – Colorado Pics

| Tour Divide | July 3, 2013

Got a few more divide pics from Sean in Colorado. In his words: “This place is pretty high and rocky… and stormy.” Seems that his updates include less and less words each time he sends one. Perhaps my prediction that he will be completely unable to reintegrate into society when he returns is going to be correct… Anyway on to the pics!

Tour Divide 2013 – Day 12 Update & Photos

| Tour Divide | June 25, 2013

Sorry for the delay in updates here, Sean has been really lagging on getting pictures sent over. Like he’s busy or something…

Anyway, he’s made it through Canada, Montana, Idaho, and is now in Rawlins, Wyoming. Today he and a few other racers faced the infamous Great Divide Basin – a 140 mile stretch with no food, no water, no roads, no nothing. What does it have? WIND. Fortunately it sounds like the wind was cooperating for the most part but he said it was back and forth. He said there were times where the head wind was so strong that he got off and walked totally flat sections – it was just as fast as riding.

Here are some pics he sent from the last few days:

Tour Divide 2013 – Day 4 Update & Photos

| Tour Divide | June 19, 2013

Sean is still cranking out miles on the Tour Divide! As I write this, he’s in 42nd place at mile 681. This means he’s averaging about 133 miles per day. He sent a few pics from day four with an update on how he’s doing:

  • Monday was a killer. Didn’t make it as far as planned.
  • Endless horrible fire roads.
  • Richmond peak was a monster. Got stuck in a thunderstorm at the top. Lightning was hitting so close it started a fire right next to the trail.

From Sean: “That last one is where we slept at the end if day 3. We were going to sleep out in one of the fields in Colombia falls, we were like, there’s no bears here!…then a huge male Grizzly bear walked by. So we kept riding and found a school yard to sleep in. Ha!”

Tour Divide 2013 – Day 3 Update

| Tour Divide | June 17, 2013

Day 3 and Sean is still moving at an unbelievable pace. He started the day just south of the border near Eureka and put in another big 140 mile day to finish in Ferndale. Here’s the update in his words:

  • HOT (90’s).
  • Montana is beautiful.
  • Hard miles from Eureka to Colombia Falls.
  • 2 passes.
  • Bit of snow hiking over Red Meadow Pass.
  • Pushing on to Ferndale tonight.

Looks like some epic riding he’s doing! Huge miles and amazing scenery. Enjoy the pics and keep the encouragement going!
